What is Postinor-Uno orodispersible tablet and what it is used for
Postinor-Uno orodispersible tablet is an emergency contraceptive that can be used for up to 72 hours (3 days) after unprotected intercourse or if a contraceptive method has failed.

Used in the following cases:

No contraception was used during intercourse.
The method of contraception is used incorrectly, for example, if the condom is torn, slipped or used incorrectly, if the vaginal pessary or diaphragm has changed position, is ruptured, broken or removed earlier, in case of a failed attempt for interruption during interrupted intercourse (eg semen is ejaculated in the vagina or on the external genitalia).
Postinor-Uno orodispersible tablet contains a synthetic hormone-like active substance called levonorgestrel. It prevents pregnancy in about 84% of expected pregnancies when taken up to 72 hours after unprotected intercourse. It does not prevent pregnancy in any case and is more effective if taken as soon as possible after unprotected intercourse. It is better to take it within 12 hours than to postpone the reception until the third day.

The action of Postinor-Uno dispersible tablet in the mouth is as follows:

stops the release of an egg from the ovaries;
prevents the fertilization of sperm from already released eggs.
Postinor-Uno orodispersible tablet can prevent pregnancy if taken within 72 hours of unprotected intercourse. It does not work if you are already pregnant. If you have another unprotected intercourse after taking Postinor-Uno, a dispersible tablet in the mouth (if it is also during the same menstrual cycle), the tablet will not work as a contraceptive and there is a risk of getting pregnant again.

Postinor-Uno orodispersible tablet is not indicated for use before the first menstrual bleeding (menarche).

Postinor-Uno dispersible tablet in the mouth is available in the form of a tablet that dissolves in the mouth.

2. What you need to know before you take Postinor-Uno orodispersible tablet
Do not take Postinor-Uno orodispersible tablet

if you are allergic to levonorgestrel or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6).
Warnings and precautions
If any of the following apply to you, you should tell your doctor before taking Postinor-Uno orodispersible tablet, as emergency contraception may not be suitable for you. Your doctor may prescribe another type of emergency contraception.

If you are pregnant or think you may be pregnant. This medicine will not work if you are already pregnant. Postinor-Uno orodispersible tablet cannot terminate a pregnancy, therefore Postinor-Uno orodispersible tablet is not an "abortion pill".
You may already be pregnant if:

Your cycle is more than 5 days late or you have unusual bleeding when your next period occurs;
you had unprotected sex more than 72 hours ago and before your next cycle.
The use of Postinor-Uno orodispersible tablet is not recommended if:

you have a disease of the small intestine (eg Crohn's disease), which inhibits the absorption of the drug
you have severe liver problems
you have a history of ectopic pregnancy (when the baby is developing outside the uterus)
you have had a condition called salpingitis (inflammation of the fallopian tubes).
Previous ectopic pregnancy or previous fallopian tube infection increases the risk of a new ectopic pregnancy.

In all women, emergency contraception should be taken as soon as possible after unprotected intercourse. There is some evidence that Postinor-Uno orodispersible tablet may be less effective with weight gain or body mass index (BMI), but these data are limited and inconclusive. Therefore, Postinor-Uno orodispersible tablet is still recommended for all women regardless of their weight or BMI.

We advise you to talk to a medical professional if you are worried about possible problems with emergency contraception.

Children and adolescents
Postinor-Uno orodispersible tablet is not indicated for use before the first menstrual bleeding (menarche).

If you are worried about sexually transmitted diseases
If you have not used a condom (or if it has broken or slipped) during intercourse, you may get a sexually transmitted disease or HIV. This medicine will not protect you from sexually transmitted diseases, only condoms can. Talk to your doctor, pharmacist or family planning clinic if you are concerned.

Tell your pharmacist or doctor if you are taking
Pregnancy, lactation and fertility
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.

Pregnancy
You should not take this medicine if you are already pregnant. If you become pregnant, even after taking this medicine, it is important to talk to your doctor. There is no evidence that Postinor-Uno orodispersible tablet will harm a baby that develops in your uterus if you use Postinor-Uno orodispersible tablet as described. However, your doctor may want to make sure that the pregnancy is not ectopic (when the baby is developing outside the womb). This is extremely important if you experience severe abdominal pain after taking Postinor-Uno orodispersible tablet or if you have had an ectopic pregnancy, fallopian tube surgery or pelvic inflammatory disease in the past.

Breastfeeding
Breast milk may contain very small amounts of the active ingredient of this medicine. This is not considered to be dangerous for the baby, but if you are worried, you can take the tablet immediately after breast-feeding and avoid breast-feeding for at least 8 hours after taking the tablet. In this way, you take the tablet long enough before the next breastfeeding, thus reducing the amount of active ingredient that the baby can take with breast milk.

Fertility
Postinor-Uno orodispersible tablet increases the chance of menstrual irregularities, which can sometimes lead to an earlier or later ovulation date, leading to changes in the fertile date. Although there are no data on long-term fertility, rapid recovery of fertility is expected after treatment with Postinor-Uno orodispersible tablet and therefore, regular contraception should be continued or started as soon as possible after the use of Postinor-Uno. Uno dispersible tablet in the mouth.

Aspartame is a source of phenylalanine. It may harm you if you have phenylketonuria (PNU), a rare genetic disease in which phenylalanine builds up because the body cannot excrete it properly.

This medicine contains less than 1 mmol sodium (23 mg) per dispersible tablet in the mouth. it can be said that it contains practically no sodium.

3. How to take Postinor-Uno orodispersible tablet
Always take this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as your pharmacist has told you. If you are not sure, talk to your doctor or pharmacist.

Take the tablet as soon as possible, preferably within 12 hours, but no later than 72 hours (3 days) after unprotected intercourse. Do not delay taking the tablet. The pill works best when you take it as soon as possible after unprotected intercourse. The pill can prevent you from becoming pregnant only if taken within 72 hours of unprotected intercourse.
Postinor-Uno orodispersible tablet can be taken at any time during the menstrual cycle, assuming you are not pregnant or do not think you may be pregnant. Remove the tablet from the blister with dry hands. Place the dispersible tablet on the tongue to dissolve, which can be swallowed with saliva. Do not chew the tablet.
If you are taking any of the medicines that may interfere with the proper action of Postinor-Uno orodispersible tablet (see "Other medicines and Postinor-Uno orodispersible tablet" above) or if you are taking any of the them in the last 4 weeks, it is possible that Postinor-Uno orodispersible tablet may be less effective in you, your doctor may prescribe another type of (non-hormonal) emergency contraception, e.g. copper IUD (Cu-IUD). If this is not possible or you cannot consult a doctor immediately, you can take a double dose of Postinor-Uno orodispersible tablet (ie 2 tablets at a time).
If you are already using a regular method of contraception such as birth control pills, you can continue to take them at the usual time.
If you have another unprotected intercourse after taking Postinor-Uno orodispersible tablet (also if it happens during the same menstrual cycle), the tablet will not work as a contraceptive and you are again at risk of becoming pregnant.
