Kreon contains a mixture of enzymes called "pancreatin".
Pancreatin helps to digest food. Enzymes are pancreatic glands of pigs.
Kreon contains small pellet which slowly release the pancreatin in the intestine (enteric-coated pellets, called microspheres).

What applies Kreon?
Kreon is used in children and adults with "pancreatic exocrine insufficiency." This is a condition in which the body does not produce enough enzymes to break down food. It is often found in people who have:
Cystic fibrosis - a rare inherited disease;
Plugged ducts of the pancreas or bile (pancreatic duct or common bile duct);
Acute inflammation of the pancreas (pancreatitis). You can take Creon when you start again to take food;
Chronic inflammation of the pancreas (pancreatitis);
Pancreatic cancer;
Partial or complete surgical removal of the pancreas (partial or total pancreatectomy);
Partial or complete surgical removal of the stomach (partial or total gastrectomy);
Gastrointestinal bypass;

How does Kreon?
The enzymes in Creon act as digest food as it passes through the intestines. You should take Kreon during or after a meal. This will allow the enzyme to be mixed.

3. HOW TO TAKE Kreon
Always take Kreon just as you have been told by your doctor. If you are unsure ask your doctor or pharmacist.

How much to take
Your dosage is measured in "lipase units". The lipase is one of the enzymes pancreatin. Different dosages Creon contain different amounts of lipase.
Always follow the advice of your doctor what dose to take Creon.
Your doctor will adjust your dose to your needs. It depends on:
Your disease;
Your weight;
Your diet;
How much fat is in your stools.
If you still have oily stools, stomach or other gastrointestinal problems (gastrointestinal symptoms), tell your doctor, as you would your dose should be adjusted.
Cystic Fibrosis
The usual starting dose for children under 4 years 1,000 lipase units per kilogram of diet.

If you take Kreon more than you need
If you take Kreon more than they should, drink plenty of water and tell your doctor.
Very high doses of pancreatin are sometimes leading to increased uric acid in the urine (hyperuricosuria) and in the blood (hyperuricemia).

If you forget to take Kreon
If you forget to take your dose, take the next at the usual time the next meal. Do not try to make up the missed dose.

If you stop taking Kreon
Do not stop taking Kreon without talking to your doctor.

Like all medicines, Kreon can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. The following side effects may occur with this medicine:
Very common (affecting more than 1 in 10 patients):
pain in the stomach (abdomen).
Common (affects less than 1 in 10 patients):
These reactions can be caused by conditions that accepted Creon. In studies, the number of patients receiving Creon, which have abdominal pain and diarrhea is similar to or smaller than patients who were not taking Creon.

Uncommon (affects less than 1 in 100 patients):
Not known (frequency can not be estimated from available data):
severe pruritus (itching) and urticaria (hives);
other serious allergic reactions may be caused by Creon, including trouble breathing and swelling of the lips;
Stricture (narrowing) of ileo-cecum and colon (fibrosing colonopathy) have been reported in patients with cystic fibrosis taking high doses of pancreatin.
If any of the side effects gets serious, or you notice other effects not listed in this leaflet, please tell your doctor or pharmacist!

Do not store above 30 ° C.
After opening store above 25 ° C, and use within 6 months.
